Bushnell – Providing the Best Spotting Scopes for Hunting for 75+ Years

It doesn’t matter if you’re after small game or large; having the right scope at the ready can make or break your hunting season. Now, several different types of optical scopes can be used while out hunting. If you’re out looking to score some big game in a more open area, then a spotting scope is an excellent choice. If you’re going to be out in a wooded area, however, you may benefit more from a good pair of binoculars or just using your riflescope – but that’s a tale of a different color.

If you’re in the market for a new spotting scope to take on your next hunting trip, then you’ll want to take some time to do a little bit of research. When it comes down to choosing the best spotting scopes for your needs, you’ll want to consider:

  • Your budget
  • The size/weight of the unit
  • The size of the objective lens
  • The lens coating (if any)
  • The magnification ranges
  • Angle or straight build
  • The included features
  • Any accessories you may need – such as a tripod

When it comes to deciding the size of your spotting scope, we’re referring to the objective lens size. Typically, most spotting scopes used for hunting will have an objective lens between 50mm and 80mm.

Determining the magnification needed in a hunting spotting scope is important because they can range quite a bit. While there are some fixed power spotting scopes that are not adjustable, many now are considered ranging magnification – meaning you can adjust the magnification power to suit your sight and better hone in on your target.

An excellent example of a ranging power magnification spotting scope is the Bushnell Forge Spotting Scope, which has a magnification range between 20x and 60x. This scope allows you to change the magnification while still maintaining high resolution and amazing light transmission due to its large, 80mm objective lens.
